What are Facial Aesthetics?
Here at Strand on the Green we do more than just dentistry- Dr Kate Hughes also offers cosmetic non-surgical treatments to make you look and feel years younger! Don’t be put off by our status as a dental practice, as dentists are actually the perfect people to perform these treatments due to their advanced training in facial muscle structures and keen eye for symmetry. We offer two kinds of facial aesthetics here: Anti-Wrinkle Treatment and Dermal Fillers.
Anti-Wrinkle Treatment involves a series of small painless relaxation injections into the affected areas of the face to give a smoother, more rested appearance. They minimise the effects of frowning by stopping the corrugator muscles above the eye from drawing the eyebrows together and can also be used to reduce other ‘overactive’ facial expressions such as excessive brow raising from causing wrinkles. This treatment can also be used to treat excessive sweating. The results can be seen as soon as two days after treatment and the positive impact only increases over the following week. The effect of facial relaxation injections normally lasts up to 6 months, but as the muscles naturally become weaker and weaker, successive treatments will extend the anti-wrinkle effect.
Kate also offers Dermal Fillers, another anti-ageing treatment that works wonders in making you appear years younger. As we age, we lose the collagen that helps to support and shape our skin, creating natural lines and furrows as well as shrinking the lips. Dermal Fillers can be used to add definition to your face, fill out wrinkles, and prevent lips from collapsing and thinning. Fillers can be used anywhere on the face, from smile lines to nasolabial lines, and all it takes is a small painless injection to plump these lines- smoothing out your skin for a younger, fresher look. Unlike facial relaxation injections, Dermal Fillers provide an immediate result which can last substantially longer, depending on the location of the filler and skin type.
