Dr Leandro Nunes, DDS, MS, PhD
Dr. Leandro Nunes is an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, who earned his dental degree from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in 2006 at ULBRA-RS. He holds a masters and doctors (PhD) degrees (Bauru-SP and PUC-RS, respectively) where he evaluated the behaviour of biomaterials in sinus lift procedures and also biological behaviour of several implant surfaces.
After working for eight years as a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon in private practice in Porto Alegre (Brazil), he sought further knowledge in surgical aspects of implant dentistry and bone regeneration through ITI scholarship in Oral surgery at University of Bern (Switzerland) under mentorship of Prof. Daniel Buser.
Dr Nunes returned to Brazil after the ITI Scholarship and became an ITI study club director and ITI fellow. He is currently a member of the ITI Brazil leadership team until 2021. He is also a member of the European Academy of Osseointegration and Osteology Foundation.
Dr. Leandro Nunes is a professor of the specialization in Implant dentistry at Brazilian Dental association and also maintains an active practice focusing on comprehensive oral rehabilitation with implant treatments, hard and soft tissue augmentations and digital workflows.
Dr Nunes has a special interest in implant rehabilitation of the atrophic ridges and post extraction sites in aesthetic areas. He is involved in research related to guided surgery, immediate and early implant placement and bone regeneration. He has presented his work in several Congress and study clubs around the globe, sharing experiences and knowledge. Implant placement in post-extraction sites, guided bone regeneration, guided surgery and sinus floor elevation are some of the main themes for his lectures and publications.
